A Day in the Life

Begin your day by reviewing your schedule and preparing the therapy space with the necessary equipment and materials for the day’s sessions.

Conduct one-on-one and group therapy sessions, focusing on improving mobility, strength, and coordination for students with various physical needs.

Work closely with occupational therapists, teachers, and parents to integrate physical health goals into each student’s educational plans and daily activities.

Assess and document students’ progress, adjusting therapeutic plans and goals as necessary to meet individual needs and maximize functional independence.

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss and strategize on comprehensive support plans for students, ensuring a holistic approach to student health and education.

Responsibilities

Provide hands-on physical therapy to improve student mobility and prevent injury, crafting individualized treatment plans based on thorough assessments.

Design and implement innovative physical therapy programs that cater to the specific needs of the educational setting, promoting not only physical health but also integration into the school environment.

Offer guidance and training to school staff and families on how to support the physical development of students, ensuring consistency in therapeutic practices across all environments.

Requirements

Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.

Must be a licensed Physical Therapist in the state of practice.

Prior experience in pediatric or school-based physical therapy is highly desirable.

Strong clinical skills in physical assessment and therapy, excellent interpersonal abilities to work effectively with students and adults.
