PSI Solutions

RTI & Professional Development
Response to Intervention (RTI) has grown in popularity as a Best Practice model strongly encouraged by IDEA. We have worked diligently to ensure that all PSI staff are well trained in its principles and implementation. Dr. Kathy McNamara from Cleveland State University is a national RTI expert, having trained many PSI staff and faculties of PSI’s partner schools. PSI has also hosted a wide array of other professional development programs this past year such as anti-bullying, child abuse identification, curricular mapping and motivating underachievers. To obtain more information about RTI and other training and professional development topics please contact Karen McKelvey at ext. 237.

PSI’s Comprehensive Health Services
PSI’s many School Health Programs continue to grow as we provide additional services to the schools we serve. PSI’s School Health is more than first aid, completing mandated reports and completing health screenings. Our staff is trained to intervene with the whole child, helping maximize academic and behavioral performance. This additional team member is indispensable to most schools we serve.

PSI provides an extensive range of health support services to partner schools, such as anti-bullying programs and child abuse prevention training. Many of these PSI Staff Development programs are available to partner schools.

PSI understands the changing medical needs of students. We offer consultation and staffing recommendations to meet your students’ health needs. Contact Janet Yue, RN, at ext. 227 for more information.

Meets with Success
The PSI in the a.m. speaker series in Northeast Ohio continues as a forum for educational leaders to focus on critical issues: teaching Chinese as a marketing strategy, raising donor contributions, organizing marketing campaigns, effective interventions and using the media to promote your school’s message. This monthly series provides principals the opportunity to address issues of key importance to school survival. Join us January 27th when Kim Wheeler of WKYC-TV will present “How to Get Your Good News on the Network News.” Call 800.841.4774, ext. 237 for details.

Special Education/ School Health Compliance
PSI has been asked by authorizers and educational management organizations to conduct audits of special education and school health policies and procedures. We help ensure that our schools are in full compliance with all local, state and federal requirements. PSI is well positioned to conduct ‘pre-audit audits’ so that school operators and authorizers can be confident that their school remains in full compliance with state and federal laws. Linda Grimm at ext. 231 can provide you with more information about this important service.

Continues to Grow
ChinaLink is growing as more schools take advantage of this exciting initiative. Participating schools are receiving Chinese language teachers and curricular modules that allow schools in both urban and suburban settings to give their students experience with Chinese language and culture. Parents, teachers and administrators understand that this exposure is becoming more critical for students
and schools to remain competitive. These schools participate in grant opportunities for travel and cultural exchange, online classroom pairings with sister schools in China, and a host of other exciting initiatives.

PSI’s ChinaLink at St. Jude’s School in Elyria, Ohio was recently spotlighted on the PBS series, NewsDepth. This contemporary curriculum has elicited well-deserved public and media coverage. Contact ext. 237 for more information about this program. ChinaLink is available in a variety of modules to fit your schedule and budget.
