
ABOUT FRANK J. SANSOSTI, PH.D., NCSP
Currently on the faculty at Kent State University, Dr. Sansosti has extensive experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Prior to his current position, Dr. Sansosti worked as a school psychologist and autism consultant in a public school district located in West Central Florida. There he provided coaching and technical assistance for inclusion practices for children with ASD, and coordinated efforts between parents, teachers, administrators, and district level personnel. In addition to his work in schools, Dr. Sansosti has many years of clinical expertise leading and co-leading social skills groups for children with social skills difficulties.
As an applied school psychologist, Dr. Sansosti focuses on the use of a problem-solving model that takes a contextual/systems approach for the identification of and program planning for children with ASD. His professional interests include the development and implementation of behavioral, academic, and social skills interventions for young children with ASD that can be applied in inclusive environments. In addition, his work focuses on building the capacity of schools in the effective use of team-based Positive Behavior Support (PBS) processes. Dr. Sansosti serves as a consultant to multiple school districts and is active in conducting professional trainings and workshops for educators at local, regional, and national venues.
Dr. Sansosti is noted for his engaging speaking style and for providing audiences with practical solutions that can be applied in a variety of school-based settings. He provides in-depth information regarding assessment, intervention, and management of service delivery for students with ASD within the least restrictive environment utilizing the best interventions possible.
